The 2nd Hangzhou International Humanoid Robot & Robotics Technology Exhibition (referred to as the Hangzhou Humanoid Robot Show),an annual flagship procurement event for the embodied intelligence and humanoid robot industry in China, will be held at the Hangzhou Grand Convention & Exhibition Center from May 14 to 16. Tesla, a global industrial leader, has confirmed its high-profile participation. The company will showcase its humanoid robot alongside its two flagship passenger vehicles, the Model 3 and Model Y. The brand's progress in humanoid robot mass production and comprehensive artificial intelligence layout will emerge as a core focal point of industry exchanges on the exhibition's opening day.

1. Accelerated Progress Toward Mass Production of Humanoid Robots

As Tesla's centerpiece exhibit at the show, the company's humanoid robot drew intensive attention from industry attendees. Tesla on-site representatives stated that the humanoid robot has attained robust task execution capabilities in motion control and dexterous manipulation.Notably, disclosures from Tesla's Q1 2026 earnings report confirm the humanoid robot program is transitioning toward large-scale mass manufacturing. Preparations for the world's first large-volume humanoid robot manufacturing plant will kick off in Q2 2026, with a designed annual production capacity of one million units. The third-generation humanoid robot, Tesla's first model engineered exclusively for mass commercial rollout, is slated to make its debut mid-year. Hundreds of prototype units have already been deployed across Tesla's manufacturing facilities to learn manufacturing workflows and daily operational skills.

2. Systematic AI Lays Foundational Technology for Humanoid Robots

The iterative capability upgrades of Tesla's humanoid robots stem directly from the brand's holistic, long-term artificial intelligence roadmap.Tesla finalized the chip design for its next-generation AI 5 inference processor in April 2026. Purpose-built for humanoid robots and data center deployments, the chip is recognized as the industry's premier AI inference processor for edge computing. The ongoing TERAFAB chip fabrication project will produce semiconductors to power both Tesla electric vehicles and humanoid robots in the future. On computing power infrastructure, the Cortex 2 compute cluster has gone live to support AI model training workloads, while the in-house developed Dojo 3 chip remains under development to drive down model training costs further.Regarding standalone robotic intelligence, Tesla revealed that its new-generation humanoid robots will feature robust on-device local intelligence, enabling autonomous operation for several hours without network connectivity or human oversight.

3. Stable Automotive Business Enables Cross-Domain Technology Synergy

The Model 3 and Model Y displayed alongside the humanoid robot represent tangible endpoints of Tesla's unified technology ecosystem. The Model Y has ranked as the world's best-selling electric vehicle for three consecutive years, with cumulative global deliveries surpassing four million units. Continuous cost optimization efforts have lowered the entry-level price of the Model 3 far below its inflation-adjusted pricing from a decade ago.Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai delivered a total of 213,000 vehicles in Q1 2026, marking a 23.5% year-on-year increase and securing stable supply capacity for the Asia-Pacific and global markets.Industry insiders highlight a critical competitive advantage: Tesla’s humanoid robots share core chip architectures and select hardware platforms with its electric vehicles. This unified underlying technology stack is widely expected to drastically reduce cost barriers for large-scale commercial adoption of humanoid robots.

4. Industrial Ecosystem Platform to Explore Collaborative Development Pathways

Centered on the theme “Reshaping the Full Industrial Chain of Embodied Intelligent Humanoid Robots”, this year's exhibition spans 30,000 square meters of exhibition space. It hosts nearly 600 leading industrial enterprises, research institutions and innovative startups, showcasing complete industrial chain offerings including core components, finished robot units, AI algorithms and real-world application solutions. On opening day, Tesla's technical team will deliver a keynote speech at the concurrent 2nd Hangzhou Humanoid Robot Summit. The speech will cover R&D breakthroughs, mass production roadmaps and cross-industry ecosystem collaboration for humanoid robots and autonomous driving, facilitating cross-industry dialogue on the future trajectory of AI and robotics industries.

Throughout the exhibition run, Tesla's booth will host ongoing sessions including deep dives into artificial intelligence technologies and hands-on demonstrations of advanced driver-assistance systems. Industry practitioners and technology enthusiasts are welcome to visit the booth to explore cutting-edge integration between humanoid robotics and smart mobility, and witness tangible transformations brought by technological advancement to manufacturing and daily life.
